About Our Swim Lessons
  • The Dive Spot offers swim lessons for all ages.
  • Lessons meet the needs of each swimmer from the elementary skills of water exploration, primary skills & stroke readiness to more advanced stroke development and refinement.
  • The average group size is 4. StarBabies and StarTots (ages 3 and younger) and Adult lessons may have a few more than 4 participants.
  • Eight 30-minute lessons are offered during each 2-week session.
  • There is a short orientation on day 1.
  • There is a 5-minute break between classes to move swimmers in and out.
  • Please apply sunscreen at home. This allows time for the skin to absorb it.
  • Children aged 3 and younger who are not potty trained must wear swim diapers.
  • Children aged 4 and older must be potty trained. Let us know if you have a special needs child for whom it is appropriate to make an exception (they will wear a swim diaper).
  • All swimmers wear eye protection except for those aged 3 and younger.
  • Those not directly involved in the lesson wait behind the fence during lessons to avoid distracting swimmers while instruction is being given.
  • A swim level guide is available to assist you in helping us place your child in the best possible learning environment.
  • Triathletes are invited to hone their swim skills for competitive success.
About Our PADI Swim School Instructors
All instructors have received swim instructor training.
Most, if not all, instructors were taught by our lead trainer and have chosen to stay with us to teach each summer.

Swim Level Guide - Under Construction - More to Follow
StarBabies and StarTots: ages 1-3; the instructor teaches both parent and child so the parent can continue the tasks whenever the child is in the water. Repeated exposure to swimming and swim lessons during the first three years of life encourage comfort and safety, but children do not learn to "swim" until they are more developmentally able. Infants and toddlers practice relaxing and breath-holding when submerged and to roll from front to back (once they are strong enough) to add moments for a parent to remove them from water if they fall in. Wee ones "scoot" in the water more than they are able to kick, pull, or "swim," but these lessons prepare them for success in Level 1.
