Lifeguarding


 American Red Cross Lifeguarding is offered at The Dive Spot
based on instructor availability and a minimum number of eligible course participants.

The tentative schedule is set for evenings and weekends. 2012 dates and fees are yet to be determined. Call or e-mail for the most current information about registering for this course.

Prerequisites:
1. 15 years old
2. Swim 300 yards continuously (swim front crawl the first 100 yards, swim breaststroke the second 100 yards and either front crawl or breaststroke the third 100 yards)
3. Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive approx. 7' to retrieve a 10 lb. object, return to the surface, swim back to the starting point at the surface while both hands remain on the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps (time allotment is 1 minute 40 seconds)


Notes:
1. This tentative schedule may change at the instructor's discretion and/or as needed to meet student learning needs.
2. Arrive early or on time and with appropriate changes of clothing, text, supplies, etc.
3. Goggles are recommended.
4. You must attend ALL class meetings (academics, pool sessions, first aid and CPR sessions) and pass all written* and skill assessments in order to be eligible for certifications. There will be no make-up sessions.
*Written assessments include both an A and B form. Participants are encouraged to study and pass exams A, but those who do not pass an exam A may take its alternative exam B in order to complete certification requirements.
